G&H designs and manufactures electro-optic Pockels cells of potassium dideuterium phosphate, beta-barium borate, or cadmium telluride with clear aperture diameters ranging from 1.8 mm to 100 mm.
G&H’s electro-optic and crystal growth facility was founded in 1973. We are uniquely positioned to support Pockels cell requirements with an extensive range of electro-optic devices based on potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) and potassium dideuterium phosphate (KD*P) crystals and other materials.
CEA and NIF selected G&H as the primary supplier of large aperture Pockels cells for optical isolators in their high fluence lasers in their inertial confinement fusion programs. These laser systems are effectively the most powerful in existence and require extraordinarily low absorption KD*P.
G&H offers a comprehensive range of electro-optic solutions for a diverse range of applications from the UV – IR. Utilizing proprietary crystal growth, fabrication, and polishing techniques, we manufacture both longitudinal and transverse electrode configuration Pockels cells.
With decades experience of electro-optic device design and internal crystal growth capabilities, we are uniquely positioned to support Pockels cell requirements with its extensive family of DKDP (KD*P) Pockels cells.
In addition to the industry-standard QX series Pockels cell, we offer several different KD*P based models to address specific applications:
- TX series large-aperture KD*P Pockels cells with clear apertures as big as 100 mm
- IMPACT, CQX, and QX series cells comprise the small aperture offerings (8 to 20 mm).
Our unique KDP and KD*P crystal growth, Pockels cell design, and device manufacturing capacity allows us to support even the largest laser OEM.
For high-average power and high repetition rate applications, we provide ?-barium borate (BBO) Pockels cells, the preferred alternative to KD*P Pockels cells. The use of oxide based crystals and water-cooled designs allow for an increase in the average power handling capacity.
For operation at longer wavelengths, we offer cadmium telluride (CdTe) devices. Its high electro-optic coefficient and non-hygroscopic nature makes CdTe well-suited for this purpose. These Pockels cells address applications beyond the spectral range of traditional Pockels cells.
G&H provides AR coatings for standard and custom wavelengths. Dielectric AR coatings on fused silica windows are used in high laser damage threshold applications. High transmission SolGel AR coatings on KD*P eliminate the need for index-matching fluid.
G&H has also designed a range of Q-switch drivers (Q-Drive™ series) for these devices, suitable for incorporation into lasers and laser systems. The Q-Drive™ are engineered for performance and durability and are available as a compact, packaged benchtop model or unpackaged for OEM integration.
