G&H Torquay is a fast-growing business specialising in design and manufacture of passive fibre-optic components, fibre lasers, and fibre optic modules for performance in rugged environments such as under sea and in space. We are currently recruiting for an additional Maintenance Technician at our Torquay site, our maintenance team are responsible for the maintenance of equipment for all aspects necessary for manufacturing operations.

Main duties include;

Provide manufacturing maintenance as required according to procedures

Provide facility maintenance to all areas of the site when required

Support Engineering development by providing maintenance support when required.

Perform planned, routine maintenance as per scheduled service periods

Ensure all equipment requiring calibration has valid certification and calibration has been performed as per appropriate procedures.

Record and identify all equipment within database and asset register accordingly. Maintain traceability of all equipment on-site.

Ensure the Maintenance Scheduling software is kept up to date with relevant calibration/service dates and all repair/work are entered accordingly.

Ensure all manufacturing equipment is functional and in good working order. Repair as necessary/instructed.

Install and retrofit new equipment or machinery as required.

Provide training/knowledge sharing to new and existing technicians.

Use of manual handling skills to re-locate equipment or Production lines when required.

Ideal candidates will have the following;

Mechanical/Electronics/Electrical C&G, BTEC, ONC, HNC

5+ years’ experience in a Maintenance/Technician role.

Proven experience in equipment maintenance (Experience in Fibre Optic and Photonic manufacturing and test equipment would be advantageous but not essential)

Fault finding skills down to component level

Knowledge and experience of equipment Calibration

The ability to deal with facility maintenance tasks e.g. basic plumbing / building skills
