The operative is a multi-skilled member of the stores and despatch team and is responsible with other team members for organising the receiving, storage, issue, dispatch and recording of material movements into the factory, in and out of stores and out to the relevant customer.

The operative will be responsible for maintenance of stock and traceability of records held in stores. As part of the team responsible for the planning, co-ordination and control of resources in Stores to ensure KPI’s are met & exceeded.


  • GCSE English and Maths to a minimum of Grade C or equivalent
  • Working Experience matching expectations of role
  • Fork Lift License desirable


  • Work within Health & Safety regulations, Company Quality and Environmental systems of work, and all other Company policies and procedures
  • Working positively to develop and foster good working relationships with colleagues and contracted personnel in order to maintain a culture of mutual respect and dignity
  • Goods In:
    • Receive goods from transport, inspect and receive on to Syspro
    • Forward goods requiring physical inspection to Inspection
    • Identify and notify the appropriate personnel of items with Good’s Receiving Issues.Quarantine the parts and ensure actions are completed within a timely manner.

  • Kitting:
    • Pick parts according to the work to list provided by Production
    • Work in accordance with FIFO guidelines
    • Document all stock variances when found and report to the Procurement Manager and Finance Controller
    • Root cause the reason for any variance and ensure corrective actions are put in place

  • Cycle Count:
    • Complete the weekly cycle count process.Document all stock variances when found and report to the Procurement Manager and Finance Controller

  • Dispatch goods:
    • Undertake the smooth running of the dispatch process. Both in the physical packing of the goods and all paperwork including export

  • Material storage and handling:
    • Be familiar with and trained in the use of the appropriate MHE
    • Ensure MHE is maintained in line with equipment recommendations
    • Maintain any operator records where applicable

  • Import/Export:
    • Verify and maintain records on incoming and outgoing shipments
    • Handle import Customs clearances, providing specific instructions where required
    • Create commercial documentation for export shipments
    • Coordinate with logistics suppliers on outbound freight
    • Produce invoices and despatch documentation for shipments to suppliers and customers orders
    • Ensure that import and export documentation is correct ensuring robust recordkeeping

  • Maintain a counter service for internal customers

  • Operate a daily ‘Milk Round’ for Consumables

  • Other duties:
    • Responsibility for Health and Safety within the Stores area and ensuring all equipment and ways of working conform with up to date regulation
    • Ensure all military components are segregated and stored in accordance with ITAR requirements
    • Continuous Improvement – Identify and gain approval for implementation of CI initiatives that reduce manual activity within stores and improve efficiency and accuracy within stores
    • Demonstrate a flexible approach to work, help and support each other within the stores environment

Skills / Abilities

  • 3+ years’ experience working in a stores manufacturing environment
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Experience of using an MRP system (Syspro or equivalent)
  • Good practical skills with a high level of manual dexterity
  • Good concentration levels and attention to detail
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to follow written and verbal instructions and accurately keep records
  • Must be reliable, have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team
