An excellent opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join our Fibre Optics facility in Torquay. G&H Torquay is a fast growing business specialising in design and manufacture of passive fibre-optic components, fibre lasers, and fibre optic modules for performance in rugged environments such as under sea and in space.

As Purchasing Manager you will integrate in to a highly versatile, energetic, customer-focused management team and use your vision and experience to provide a first class procurement service. For this role we are hoping to hear from either an experienced manager, or a Senior Buyer looking for the next step in their career.

Main duties include;

Day to day management of the ordering process through to delivery, reviewing suppliers QCD, ensuring all supply chain information is logged accurately in the ERP system

Creating new procedures and making improvements on existing practices to ensure legal, contractual and regulatory compliance

Minimise risk to supply through to the negotiation of long term agreements with key suppliers, and conduct risk reviews

Liaise with design engineering to develop supplier strategies, work with the sales department in compiling bids, and work with site management on NPI

Ideal candidates will have the following;

Extensive experience in procurement and or supply chain with leadership responsibility

Experience in a manufacturing environment preferably within Aerospace and Defence

In depth knowledge and experience of running MRP systems

Experience in developing and managing overseas Supply Chains

First-hand experience in leading contract negotiations with global suppliers

Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to demonstrate a sense of urgency
