Supplier Development Engineer

We are recruiting for a Supplier Development Engineer as part of the wider UK Quality team, you will be based at one of our key manufacturing sites in the South: Ilminster; Somerset, Torquay or Plymouth; Devon, or Ashford; Kent. The role will encompass involvement throughout the whole product life cycle; working with design & manufacturing engineers to identify cost of manufacture opportunities, on boarding of new suppliers and conducting audits, resolving supplier quality problems, Additionally, working with Supply Chain in support of the Supplier Risk Management process, Supplier Performance Reviews in identifying and managing supply chain developmental opportunities.

Main responsibilities include:

  • New Product Development and introduction of Preferred suppliers: NPI and gate review preparedness, DFM analysis, Supplier selection and onboarding, Capability assessment
  • Risk Management: Supplier Risk data gathering and Profile management, Mitigation plan coordination, Reporting into management
  • Supplier performance: Periodic supplier performance management, Maintain/Grow/Exit planning, FAIR acceptance coordination with sites, Manage audit program
  • Problem resolution through: RCA, 8D reporting, Data analysis, Provide support to site Quality teams
  • Cost reduction: Overviewing QCD (Quality Cost Delivery), Establishing Supplier, Development projects, Lean Management/CI initiatives, A3 reporting of development/CI projects, Reduction in on-site verification activities, Monitoring COSQ (Cost of Supplied Quality)
  • Regulatory requirements with 3rd Party to meet: REACH SVHC, RoHS, CMRT, TSCA

Ideal candidates will have the following:

  • Degree or equivalent in engineering, business or science related field preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience in a manufacturing AS9100, ISO13485 or ISO9001 quality role
  • Extensive experience for internal auditing to minimum of ISO9001 Lead assessor
  • Application of quality within a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple improvement projects
  • Understanding Engineering drawings, manufacturing processes and specification requirements
  • Fully versed in visual metrics, continuous improvement activities along with analytical and problem-solving techniques to address effective Root Cause Analysis
  • Ability to apply positive change management within a diverse and dynamic environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present data effectively
