G&H (LON:GHH), Gooch & Housego, a global specialist in precision photonics, advanced materials and optical systems, today announced significant progress across its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy in 2025, strengthening environmental transparency, external validation and its long-term pathway toward net zero.
During the year, G&H expanded ISO 14001 environmental management certification to additional manufacturing locations, with more than 75% of the Group’s global operational footprint now covered by certified environmental management systems.
Andy Back, SVP Global Quality at G&H, commented, “At G&H, sustainability is central to how we grow our business responsibly. With the oversight of our Sustainability Committee and the dedication of our teams across the Group, we continue to strengthen transparency, verify performance, and support the global transition toward a net-zero carbon economy.”

In 2025, G&H completed its first comprehensive Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions assessment, marking a major milestone in understanding the company’s total environmental impact across its value chain. The assessment includes indirect emissions associated with purchased goods and services, capital goods, upstream energy and logistics, waste generated in operations, business travel, employee commuting and end-of-life treatment of sold products.
This first-time Scope 3 disclosure establishes the most complete emissions baseline in the company’s history and provides a foundation for future, science-aligned reduction planning.
EcoVadis Bronze Sustainability Rating Achieved
G&H was awarded a Bronze sustainability rating in the 2025 EcoVadis assessment. The improved score reflects meaningful progress across environmental management, labour and human rights, ethics, governance and sustainable procurement, and positions the company for continued advancement in future assessments.

To further strengthen the transparency and reliability of its environmental disclosures, G&H commissioned an independent verification of its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions, undertaken in accordance with ISO 14064, the internationally recognised standard for GHG verification and validation. This process involved a detailed review of data collection methods, emissions calculations, boundary-setting approaches, and the controls used to ensure the accuracy and completeness of reported information.
The successful verification confirms that G&H’s emissions data is accurate, consistent, traceable and supported by robust internal processes. It also validates the methodologies used across the Group’s global operations, ensuring alignment with industry best practice and customer expectations—particularly within markets where independently verified carbon reporting is increasingly a prerequisite.
Improved Climate Disclosure Performance
G&H also achieved an improved rating from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) in 2025, rising from score level C to B, marking a significant step in the company’s climate disclosure. This improvement reflects comprehensive progress across several areas evaluated by CDP, including enhanced climate governance, clearer board-level oversight, more robust risk and opportunity assessments, and stronger integration of climate-related factors into strategic and operational decision-making.
Achieving a CDP score of B positions G&H as a company taking coordinated action on climate issues and demonstrates alignment with evolving customer expectations and global sustainability benchmarks.

Net Zero Direction and Long-Term Ambition
G&H remains aligned with the objectives of the Paris Agreement and continues to evolve its net zero strategy in line with regulatory, customer and scientific expectations. The company’s current ambitions include net zero Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2035 and full net zero across all emissions by 2050.
Building on the momentum achieved in 2025, G&H will continue to strengthen its ESG strategy in FY26 with a focus on science-aligned emissions reduction planning, deeper supplier sustainability engagement, expanded independent verification of environmental data, and further enhancement of labour, human rights and ethics frameworks. The Group also plans to advance product carbon footprinting for key product families and drive additional operational efficiency improvements across its global manufacturing footprint.
G&H will continue to deliver sustainable, long-term value for customers, colleagues, communities and shareholders through responsible growth, transparent reporting and disciplined environmental leadership.
