Electro-Optic Devices

Electro-optic devices and drivers for pulsed laser control

Our electro-optic devices are manufactured from the highest quality home-grown electro-optical crystals and are offered with specifically designed housings and current drivers.

Pockels cells operate by applying a voltage across a nonlinear crystal, which affects the polarization of the light transmitted through the Pockels cell. These devices operate as Q-switches inside laser cavities and as optical switches outside the cavity.

All of the necessary components to build electro-optic switches are manufactured at G&H, from growing the nonlinear crystal, such as KDP/KD*P (Potassium Dihydrogen Phosphate and Potassium Dideuterium Phosphate), BBO (Beta Barium Borate), or LiNbO₃ (Lithium Niobate), to the Pockels cell housing and Pockels cell drivers, and are available in a variety of configurations.

Among the main parameters to consider when choosing a Pockels cell are the wavelength, average power, and size of the beam, as well as the geometry of the optical setup. As these parameters vary from application to application, G&H offers a range of products supported by growing the optical crystals in-house, designing the devices to give maximum performance, and offering corresponding Pockels cell drivers.

From prototypes to full-scale production of electro-optics

At G&H, we have the ability to produce single prototypes and the manufacturing capacity to make electro-optic devices by the thousands. We can support your needs from commercial off-the-shelf products to customized complex solutions to meet your most demanding application requirements.
