We offer apprenticeships at several of our UK-based sites, providing hands-on experience, a career path, a salary, and the opportunity to gain recognized qualifications while you work. We also have other job opportunities across the UK.

Individuals entering the business will join an industry leading operational team and gain knowledge and understanding of a range of operational, or manufacturing and engineering practices. We provide all of our apprentices with mentoring support.

Initially, apprenticeships will involve being trained in manufacturing disciplines to gain a product understanding and contribute to the company output. Following this, the opportunity evolves into either Product or Manufacturing Engineering to work on design, development of new and existing products, process engineering, and supporting complex manufacturing tasks.

At our Torquay site, we design and manufacture best-in-class fiber optic components and modules, for a worldwide customer base of industrial, aerospace, and life science OEMs. Our products are used in a diverse range of applications including undersea intercontinental telecoms cabling, medical diagnostic and surgical equipment, oil and gas pipeline security, and aircraft refueling.

In conjunction with the South Devon College and through the hard work of our students and engineering mentors, our Engineering Apprenticeship program has been recognized as one of the most effective in South Devon. G&H Ilminster offers a structured and engaging apprenticeship programme designed to support the development of the next generation of skilled engineers. Combining practical, on-the-job training with academic study at Bridgwater College, our four-year apprenticeship provides a comprehensive learning experience.

Apprentices gain hands-on experience across key areas including Polishing, Machine Shop, Coating, CNC, Quality, Procurement, and Engineering, before specialising in their final year.
