G&H (LON:GHH), is featured in the Winter 2026 edition of Optics.org Quantum Focus Magazine highlighting how we are pushing the boundaries of acousto-optic solutions for quantum computing.

Our article, “Precision at scale: How acousto-optic devices are pushing quantum computing past the 1,000-qubit barrier,” written by Luke Gordon, Senior Optical Design Engineer at G&H, examines the optical challenges that emerge as quantum systems scale from hundreds to thousands of qubits. At this level, fast, wide-field, electronically controlled beam steering becomes essential. This requires wide fields of view, high resolution, measured by the number of distinct addressable points, and microsecond-level steering speeds without reliance on mechanical scanning.

The article highlights how G&H acousto-optic technologies, including deflectors (AODs), modulators (AOMs), and multichannel architectures (AOMCs), are enabling scalable, high-performance quantum architectures. As qubit counts increase, these AO solutions are transitioning from supporting components to critical infrastructure within quantum computing systems.
