Custom OEM Fiber Optic Modules

G&H develops custom OEM fiber optic modules that combine specialist photonic components, fiber management, electronics and application-specific packaging within an integrated solution.

Full Product Description

Product description

G&H works with OEM customers to design and manufacture custom fiber optic modules for systems where standard components cannot fully satisfy the optical, mechanical, electrical or environmental requirements.

Our engineering teams can integrate selected active and passive fiber optic technologies with electronic control, monitoring, thermal management and mechanical packaging. The resulting module is developed around the customer’s performance requirements and interfaces, helping simplify installation and reduce the complexity of managing multiple individual components.

Projects can range from adaptations of established G&H technologies to completely application-specific photonic modules and sub-assemblies. Support is available from early feasibility and prototype development through qualification, industrialisation and repeatable manufacture.

G&H also brings established expertise in optical coherence tomography (OCT), supporting the development of fiber optic solutions for advanced imaging systems. Our experience extends from component and subsystem integration through to design for manufacture and assembly (DFMA), helping OEM customers move from initial concept to a robust, production-ready solution.

Key features

Designed around the application

Each OEM module begins with an understanding of the wider system rather than an isolated component specification. G&H engineers can work with customers to define:

  • Optical performance and power requirements
  • Operating wavelength and bandwidth
  • Fiber type and polarization requirements
  • Input and output configurations
  • Electrical power, control and monitoring interfaces
  • Mechanical envelope and mounting arrangements
  • Thermal-management requirements
  • OCT imaging architecture and optical-path requirements
  • Environmental and reliability expectations
  • Test, traceability and documentation requirements
  • Prototype and production-volume requirements

This collaborative approach helps identify interface risks early and ensures that the completed module is designed for practical integration into the customer’s equipment.

Packaging and integration options

Custom packaging can be developed to suit the application and its available mechanical envelope. Depending on the program requirements, potential formats include:

  • Compact enclosed photonic modules
  • Rack-mounted assemblies
  • OEM sub-assemblies for installation within customer equipment
  • Ruggedized modules for harsh or variable environments
  • Modules incorporating integrated fiber routing and strain relief
  • Application-specific connector and pigtail configurations
  • Packages incorporating electronic control and monitoring
  • Thermally managed assemblies for higher-power operation
