Optical Coatings & Filters
High-performance optical coatings and filters engineered to enhance transmission, reflection, and durability.
©️ Military Systems & Technology magazineG&H (LON:GHH), is pleased to be featured in the June edition of Military Systems & Technology, highlighting its expanded defence optics and photonics portfolio ahead of Eurosatory 2026.
The feature focuses on G&H’s latest technologies for armoured vehicle vision, infrared imaging, laser protection, and platform survivability. Visitors to Eurosatory will be able to meet the G&H team in Hall 4, Booth E100 and explore solutions designed to support enhanced situational awareness, target acquisition, and operational performance in demanding defence environments.
Following the acquisitions of Phoenix Optical Technologies in the UK and Global Photonics in the US, G&H has strengthened its ability to support defence customers with precision optics, advanced coatings, infrared imaging systems, and integrated photonic assemblies for mission-critical applications.

Modern defence platforms rely on optical systems that deliver reliable performance in complex and contested environments. From armoured vehicle vision systems to infrared imaging and laser protection, G&H supports defence customers with technologies engineered for reliability, survivability, and performance.
The Eurosatory feature brings together several areas of G&H expertise, including:

One of the key solutions featured is G&H’s Embedded Image Periscope, developed to improve situational awareness for armoured fighting vehicle crews.
The system combines direct optical viewing with high-definition electronic display capability, enabling operators to maintain awareness while transitioning between observation modes. Designed for compact vehicle environments, the periscope supports the space, weight, power, and performance requirements of modern defence platforms.
For armoured vehicle applications, the Embedded Image Periscope helps improve crew visibility, comfort, and operational effectiveness during extended missions.
The Embedded Image Periscope is paired with G&H | StingRay’s FireAnt™ SWIR lens assembly, supporting enhanced day and night situational awareness.
FireAnt™ is a continuous zoom SWIR lens solution designed to maximise in-band transmission and image resolution. This makes it well suited to defence applications where target identification, low-light performance, and visibility through challenging conditions are essential.
Together, the periscope and FireAnt™ lens assembly demonstrate how G&H combines optical engineering, ruggedised design, and platform integration to support next-generation vehicle vision systems.
©️ G&H Garnet Series™ MWIR Lens AssembliesThe feature also highlights the new Garnet™ MWIR lens assembly series, developed by G&H | StingRay for infrared imaging applications.
Garnet™ provides a Germanium-free and Chalcogenide-free MWIR imaging solution, helping defence manufacturers reduce dependency on constrained materials while maintaining high optical performance.
Designed for operation across the 3–5 µm wavelength range, Garnet™ supports applications including ISR, surveillance, border security, target acquisition, and long-range imaging. The series reflects G&H’s focus on both technical performance and supply chain resilience for critical defence programmes.
©️ G&H | Artemis, in partnership with Sentinel Photonics, developed the FROST series of filters - rugged optical elements that mount directly onto riflescopes and other magnified sightsIn collaboration with Sentinel Photonics, G&H is showcasing integrated laser threat detection technology embedded within vehicle periscope systems.
This solution is designed to alert vehicle crews to hostile or hazardous laser activity, including threats from laser rangefinders, target designators, dazzlers, and other battlefield laser systems. By integrating detection directly into the periscope architecture, the technology supports improved situational awareness without requiring significant changes to existing vehicle interfaces.
The system can support both new and legacy platforms, helping defence customers improve survivability while reducing installation complexity.
G&H | Artemis will also present the FROST laser protection filter range, designed to protect users and riflescope optics from increasingly common battlefield laser threats.
The filters are engineered to reduce the risk of laser dazzling and blinding effects while maintaining visual clarity, target visibility, and operational effectiveness. Designed for integration with riflescope objective lenses, FROST filters support military and security users operating in environments where laser exposure is an increasing threat.
Manufactured for demanding field conditions, the range demonstrates G&H’s expertise in advanced optical coatings and protective filter technologies.
©️ G&H Optical CoatingsAlongside the featured systems, G&H will showcase a broader portfolio of defence optics and photonics capabilities.
These include precision optics for avionics and directed-energy systems, advanced optical coatings, ISR lens assemblies, infrared imaging systems, photonic materials, and integrated optical assemblies for defence platforms.
By combining optical design, coatings, manufacturing, assembly, and testing, G&H supports defence customers from component-level supply through to integrated optical and photonic subsystems.
©️ G&H attending Eurosatory 2026G&H’s expanded defence portfolio supports a wide range of land, air, surveillance, and security applications. The technologies featured for Eurosatory are designed to help improve operator awareness, protect personnel, enhance imaging performance, and support mission-critical systems in demanding operational environments.
With manufacturing and engineering capabilities across the UK and US, G&H continues to invest in advanced optical technologies and strategic partnerships to support the evolving needs of the global defence community.
Visitors attending Eurosatory 2026 are invited to meet the G&H team in Hall 4, Booth E100 to learn more about the company’s latest defence optics and photonics solutions.
The team will be available to discuss vehicle vision systems, infrared imaging, laser protection, precision optics, coatings, photonic materials, and integrated optical systems for defence and security applications.
