G&H Torquay is a fast-growing business specialising in design and manufacture of fibre-optic components, fibre lasers, and fibre optic modules for performance in rugged environments such as under sea and in space. We are currently recruiting for a HR Business Partner, to join the senior leadership team of the Torquay manufacturing site.

The HRBP helps to translate business needs into HR requirements and activity to drive and implement value-adding HR initiatives in order to build capability and increase organisational effectiveness and business performance. The role will provide an HR business partner service to these sites to meet the expectations of key stakeholders.

The job holder is also a team member of the Global HR function and is responsible for ensuring relevant Group HR policies and global HR Ways of Working are adopted and maintained at Torquay.

The job holder will also act as HR function lead for assigned processes; and manager the HR Advisor, providing mentoring support and development and overseeing the administrative function.

Main duties include;

To understand the people implications of the site business plans and translate into pragmatic solutions

To deliver on both the tactical and strategic matters rising within the workforce

Providing reports on a suite of HR KPI’s and reports to meet business needs

Supporting recruitment, training & development programmes

Deploy the company’s employee engagement, communications and retention programmes and measures as required (e.g. employee survey, employee recognition schemes)

To manage employee relations matters to conclusion as required

Provide robust advice and coaching to Site & STG management colleagues

Oversee payroll data and administration to ensure timely payroll processing

Ideal candidates will have the following;

Practical, applied knowledge of UK Employment Law and corporate HR strategy

Success in developing and enabling deployment of designated HR processes e.g. Recruitment, Talent Management, Learning & Development, Compensation & Benefits

Bachelors Degree or equivalent / CIPD graduate

Solid experience in HR management, within a manufacturing environment; some multi-site, matrix organisation experience would be advantageous

Able to quickly gain trust & respect of colleagues, strong persuasive skills

Hands on, solid administrative skills and experience of working with HRIS and data provision to payroll
