G&H produces many different crystals from a variety of materials. We grow, orient, fabricate, finish, coat, and mount beta barium borate (BBO), cadmium sulfide (CdS), cadmium selenide (CdSe), potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP), potassium dideuterium phosphate (KD*P) and tellurium dioxide (TeO2) crystals in housings with apertures from 3 mm to larger than 300 mm.
We manufacture our crystals to work in optical components such as acousto-optic modulators, lithium niobate Mach-Zehnder modulators, Pockels cells, waveplates, and harmonic generating crystals. Large KDP and KD*P crystal plates grown, cut, and finished by G&H are used at The Commissariat à l'énergie atomique et aux énergies alternatives (CEA) and National Ignition Facility (NIF) for laser fusion.
G&H has extensive facilities for transmission and reflection interferometry, as well as contrast ratio measurements. We can measure insertion loss, uniformity of birefringence, and other important characteristics.
Our experience growing Lithium Niobate dates back to 1967, producing the first commercially available material. Since that time we have constantly refined the growth and material processing to be able to produce the highest quality, most consistent lithium niobate.
Crystal Optic products
LiNbO3 wafers can be double or single side polished. Congruent lithium niobate or with magnesium doping are available.
Periodically Poled LiNbO3, also known as PPLN, is produced un-doped or magnesium doped with a large number of poling patterns available.
In addition to LiNbO3, G&H grows beta-barium Borate (BBO), Cadmium Selenide (CdSe), Cadmium Sulfide, (CdS), Potassium Di-hydrogen Phosphate (KDP), and Potassium Di-deuterium Phosphate (KD*P).
Cadmium Sulphide (CdS) and Cadmium Selenide (CdSe) waveplates are manufactured from original crystal growth to final product for wavelengths greater than 3µm. Very large, greater than 1 m, Di-Hydrogen Potassium Phosphate (KDP) waveplates are also available.
Many of our photonic solutions are qualified for space or are currently deployed. We understand how to develop, design, and manufacture for extremes of temperatures, radiation, shock, and vibration. We perform extensive qualification testing during engineering builds and flight hardware qualification.
