Job Title: Manufacturing Supervisor

Reports to: Manufacturing Manager

Scope of the role:

The Manufacturing Supervisor reports to the Manufacturing / Operations Manager and supports activities within other cross functional teams. Manufacturing Supervisor will oversee the day-to-day operations of our manufacturing department. The Manufacturing Supervisor will be responsible for managing and guiding a team of technicians and operators, ensuring that they meet production targets, follow standard operating procedures, and maintain a high level of quality and safety. Must have a proven ability to drive continuous improvement.


  • Supervise the day-to-day operations of the photonics manufacturing department, including staffing, scheduling, training, and performance management of the team.
  • Coordinates with the Manufacturing Team Leads to establish priorities, monitor progress, execute a production schedule, assign qualified team resources to production assembly jobs, and monitor work center capacities and resources to ensure timely outputs.
  • Ensure that production targets are met or exceeded, and that quality and safety standards are maintained.
  • Acts as a liaison between management staff and the production team.
  • Recommends revisions after analyzing operating practices.
  • Mentors new associates and defines training plans based on needs.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Engineering, and Quality Control, to ensure that products are manufactured to specification and meet customer requirements.
  • Initiates and participates in 6S.
  • Ensure that all manufacturing equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and operated to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Develop / assist with implementation of standard operating procedures and best practices to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices, and a commitment to creating a safe work environment.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Associate degree or equivalent education gained through work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years within a supervisor role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to motivate and develop employees.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, oral presentation and writing skills.
  • Spanish verbal and written is a plus.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Able to review travelers and work instructions.
  • Six-Sigma Green Belt or strong lean methodologies preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Precision Optics experience is a plus.
