Germanium Dome and Meniscus Lenses
High-curvature Germanium dome and meniscus lenses engineered for wide-angle infrared collection, thermal imaging, and optical sensing in compact, rugged MWIR and LWIR systems.
Full Product DescriptionProduct description
G&H Germanium dome and meniscus lenses are high-curvature optical elements designed for advanced infrared (IR) applications in the mid-wave and long-wave spectral regions (2–14 µm). Manufactured from high-purity monocrystalline Germanium, these lenses offer superior IR transmission, high refractive index (~4.0 at 10.6 µm), and excellent mechanical durability.
The meniscus or dome geometry provides significant curvature for collecting divergent IR radiation, enabling efficient optical coupling in wide-field thermal imagers and compact sensor systems. These lenses are particularly suited for front optics in infrared cameras, missile seekers, and rugged environmental sensors, where wide-angle coverage and minimal aberration are critical.
Available with broadband anti-reflective (BBAR) or diamond-like carbon (DLC) coatings, these lenses deliver optimized transmission and surface protection in challenging environments such as defense, aerospace, and industrial inspection.
